Passionate Animator, Instructor, Mentor

Why character animation? It's simple- it challenges me. It's something I have to work hard at. There is always more to learn, more room to improve. I didn't pick character animation because I found it easy, because its not. I pursued it because I found it fascinating and  endlessly engrossing.

About Me

Animation is a process of discovery, it requires experimentation and flexible thinking. It’s an animator’s job to cut through the noise of an animation- find what’s working, identify problems, tackle challenges, strategize and string ideas into a unified whole.

Animation requires curiosity and determination. You need a comprehensive understanding of the rules: the twelve principles of animation, locomotion, kinematics, body language and anatomy. These are the animator’s essential tools and you need a thorough grounding in order to know when and how to break them.

As an animator you need to be a thoughtful tactician, to love perfecting the nuances of movement to be able to honestly express a character and avoid cliches. Every animator has a unique perspective they can utilize to create fresh and engaging performances.

I am an experienced professor of Animation, teaching animation and rigging since 2013. I have my MFA in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design. Every day I mentor and guide students of all ages to become innovative storytellers and artists.

I created this website to share my hard won knowledge and insight with aspiring and professional animators. My goal for this site is to create a comprehensive character animation resource that is fluid and relevant, a growing collection and library of information to help provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to be successful. Thank you for using this resource and I hope you benefit from it.

Happy Animating!
